About

Steve

Steve Adams came to the USA in 2006, having lived in and around London in the UK all of his life. A successful corporate career led him to New York City, where he settled for a few years prior to semi-retiring and moving to Florida.

In Florida, Steve and his former wife opened their own insurance agency, developing it sufficiently to sell it in 2013.

A lifelong learner and always naturally curious, Steve turned to one of his bucket list items, a 2200-mile hike of the Appalachian Trail. He set out in March 2014, never having hiked in his life. To record his hike, he developed a blog and enjoyed the self-imposed responsibility that gave him during his hike.

Six months later, he reached the summit of Mount Katahdin in Maine, his epic journey successfully completed.

Over the following year, he used his blog as the basis for his telling of the story, publishing My Appalachian Trial Volumes I and II in 2016, before following up with his brief, free, informational book, Hiking the Appalachian Trail is Easy: Especially if You’ve Never Hiked Before.

Later the same year, he started his popular podcast, Mighty Blue on the Appalachian Trail: The Ultimate Mid-Life Crisis, which has now been downloaded nearly 1.5m times. His Hiking Radio Network now hosts six hiking shows.

With several other successful hikes to write about, including the Camino De Santiago and a second completion of the Appalachian Trail, Steve is now turning his considerable skills to novels. He has taken a partial sabbatical from his podcast and expects to publish his first novel in late 2021.

Steve lives in Florida with his partner, Dana.
